Accessibility Statement

We want lievitofresco.com to be usable by as many people as possible, including readers who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text. This page describes where we currently stand — honestly, including what is not yet finished.

What We Aim For

We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We have not undergone a formal third-party audit, so we describe the Site as partially conformant: most of the standard is met, and the known gaps are listed below.

What Already Works

• Keyboard navigation — menus, search, dialogs, and the cook-mode stepper can be operated without a mouse. Cook mode also responds to the arrow keys and Escape.
• Semantic structure — pages use real headings, lists, and landmarks, so a screen reader can skip between sections and jump to ingredients or method directly.
• Text scaling — the layout reflows down to small screens and stays readable when text is enlarged in the browser.
• Colour contrast — body text and controls are set against backgrounds chosen to meet the AA contrast ratio.
• Not colour-alone — dietary labels, difficulty, and status are conveyed in words and icons, never by colour by itself.
• Reduced motion — fade-in and transition effects are suppressed for readers whose system requests reduced motion.
• Readable recipes — ingredients and steps are plain text lists, so they can be read aloud or magnified without breaking the layout.

Known Issues

We would rather list these than imply the Site is perfect:

• Image descriptions are incomplete. Many older recipe photographs were published without alternative text, so screen-reader users hear nothing useful in their place. We are working through the archive adding real descriptions, and alt text is now prompted for whenever a new image is added.
• Some older imported posts carry heading levels that skip a step, which can make their outline harder to follow.
• Embedded video from YouTube uses that platform's own player, whose controls and captions are outside our control. Captions depend on the individual video.
• The unit converter is an interactive tool; while it is keyboard operable, its live-updating results are not yet announced to screen readers as they change.

We aim to reply within five working days. If a recipe is unreachable for you, ask and we will send you its full text in an accessible format.
